I know you've heard a song and immediately felt like you'd known it for forever. After the hearing the chorus on NVME, I felt like I had been rocking with Dr. Quinn for years; like I had been listening to his unique beats for the longest. It's called feel good music. Only that perfect mix of lyricism and raw talent can do that to you. As my ears went on the journey of The Gooch, I had some laughs and my head nodded incessantly. I walked away screaming the hooks as if the album had been playing in my library for forever. It's just that good. Seven tracks and not one lacks on lyricism or Dr. Quinn's dope flow.
I'm a hip hop snob! I must admit. Few things make me excited, when it comes to Hip Hop. There's just too much repetition of the same tired style or the same recycled beats. When I do find music that doesn't immediately bore me, I fall madly in love with it. I played Gunz and Butter for so many people when I first heard the single. It was fresh and new and yet it was endearing. When the Doc let me listen to the whole album, each song did the same that the single did: surprised me, sent me grooving, and made me fall deeper in love with the artistry of Dr. Quinn. The songs flow seamlessly. The beats are smooth. And Quinn's flow over the top of it all goes nuts. Here's what made me fall in love with The Gooch.
