There are still 12 days left to support model and designer Shani Crowe & her "Braids" project. The creative is less than $200 shy of her campaign goal, supported by 3Arts, an organization working to sustain and promote Chicago artists with a focus on women artists, artists of color, and artists with disabilities. The exhibit will feature a series of photography and video to illustrate the nuanced artistry of hair braiding. Crowe says: Historically, facets of Black life are mocked or exploited for capital gain while actual Black people are removed from the conversation. This is why it feels imperative to add my voice to this conversation, to help define my culture with an artistic perspective rooted in Black unity and empowerment. With your help, "Braids" will be released as a solo exhibition in Spring 2016. Donate Now:
