During a girl’s childhood movies like the Disney Princesses always end with a happy ending. The princess is lost without her prince and someone tries to be a negative obstacle. Soon after, the prince will save the poor princess and they both fade into the sunset of a Happily Ever After. However, what if the princess’ life with her prince turned to be a not so happy ending? Saint Hoax is an artist from the Middle East. He is known for his eccentric twists on Pop culture. His signature is using pop art on tyrants and world leaders and other media to show the true lies that are held beneath. Hoax created a collection with Disney princess digitally altered to look like they had been abused by their prince. The caption below says, “When did he stop treating you like a princess? It’s never too late to put an end to it.” Hoax created this art series, Happy Never After, as a part of an awareness campaign for both young girls and women. The series was based on domestic violence and how it should be reported. As Saint Hoax uses his voice through art to hope for a change in domestic violence, we should come together and try to end it too. If you know someone who is going through it or you yourself are, report it. Do not be afraid! There should never be a time that your prince stops treating you like a princess. Remember that you deserve your happy ending!
