Elee.Mosynary Gallery Announces Creative Workers Coop Elee Egz, owner and director of the elee.mosynary gallery (Pilsen), announced a $30,000 plan to create a creative workers co-working space and cooperative program, ALIVE & WELL, CHI. According to Egz, the program would provide professional and social services by offering community resources and creating more social enterprises for Chicago's artrepreneurs! In a year's time, I hosted over 150 events, supporting hundreds of artists and artrepreneurs! All of this was done with no financial backing. I funded the entire development of the space independently and spent innumerable hours laboring and organizing. This proves that our community is alive and well, despite how some naysayers may perceive Chicago's artist community. It also demonstrates the need for more resources and support. Imagine what could be done with funding with all of this being accomplished without it..... The program would be broken up into three separate initiatives: The MALCOLM Program, designed to engage, uplift, inform, inspire, and cultivate future leaders"; a Creative Action Commitee, "promoting self-sufficiency by helping the citizens organize and develop their own neighborhoods"; and The Chicago Hip Hop Archive, a collection of interviews, songs, and lyrics used mainly to reconstruct histories of Chicago Hip Hop, but also for administrative value and exhibition. Egz plans to debut ALIVE & WELL, CHI during a gallery celebration on Saturday, August 14, 2015. For more information or to donate, look out below! DONATE: ALIVE & WELL, CHI
