1. Garfield Conservatory Park Reopens For Earth Day
In lieu of Earth Day, Garfield Conservatory reopened its doors to the public! For the first time since they closed for repairs, Chicago Earth lovers can see the Fern Room & Desert House! Their Grand Reopening Family Day will be Sunday, April 26th.
2. Meteor Showers Thursday Morning
Tonight (meaning now) through sunrise, Thursday morning, Earth lovers can also withness the Lyrid meteor shower! Even if the weather in your area doesn't cooperate, you can see a live broadcast of the falling meteors via Space.com. You have about three hours before the sun comes up to see it!
3. Chicago's $400 Mil Gift
Chicago philanthropist Stefan T. Edlis and his wife, Gael Neeson have given the Art Institute of Chicago the largest gift the museum has received in its 136-year history: an art collection worth over $400 million. According to NBC Chicago, The collection includes pieces by legendary contemporary artists including Andy Warhol, Roy Lichtenstein, Jasper Johns, Cy Twombly. The works will be on permanent view at the museum for the next 50 years!
